In our Book “Mommy and Daddy Troubles” Little Fruit learns
1. It is not his fault that parent’s separate, it’s a simple fact that parent’s, like fruit, don’t mix well;
2. It is up to Mr. Apple and Ms. Orange to come up with a game plan to save the day and help Little Fruit fight uncertainty, fear and the general unknown caused by separation/divorce.

Mommy and Daddy Troubles eBook Rebecca Sossi Matt Sossi

I received this book from Matt Sossi- it means a lot to me that my daughter who’s 4 years old understand what’s happening with her dad and I. Although we’ve been on agreement with everything during mediation our daughter needed to hear us talk to her about what’s is actually going. I cried when I read it first, because it is sad and it is hard and there is hurt, but the book brings clarity with how simple it is to just see it from the prospective of our little one ❤️

Great book for parents and children involved in a divorce or any family law case! This book takes what might be an overwhelming situation for a child and simplifies it in a caring way that's easy for a child to understand and relate to. Hopefully parents will read this book with their children because it can certainly help adults as well. Eric D. Wilson, Attorney.
Sounds funny to be admitting a child's book shifted the course of our ugly divorce, but it is the honest truth !

The devastating culture of divorce was consuming our lives unbelievably fast. After reading this book to my daughter I shared the story with my husband and we simply realized the self absorbed fight to prove each side was hurting the innocent one, our daughter we both love so dearly.

In that moment we made a choice to be civil. Tension began to subside, dignity restored, and immediately could see our daughter relax, receiving love, and more secure. Now our work can begin.
Mommy and Daddy Troubles is a solid story about divorce and its impact on kids. This books helps children understand how mommy and daddy are as different as apples and oranges and how their differences led to the divorce. It's especially good for kids whose parents put them first by their efforts to get along throughout the divorce and after.

I highly recommend it for young kids suffering from their parents divorce. It will help them deal with their experiences.

I am currently using this book with great success with my 5yo son, as his father and I divorce. There are a few things that set this book apart from other divorce books available geared to young children. First, the daddy-apple/mommy- organge concept carried through out the book provides children with a concrete, simple, and neutral way to conceptualize the 'why' of their parents' separation- mommy and daddy are different fruit, both good, just different. It's a brilliant concept that my 5yo can truly grasp. Many of the other books on the topic I looked at for my son avoided addressing the 'why' of the divorce entirely. This book goes one step further than just explaining divorce on a level kids can understand; it encourages them to identify their emotions related to the divorce and discuss them with a trusted adult. Talking about feelings is presented as a brave thing to do and the children can even print a courage badge (from the book) off from the affiliated website. I have done this for my son and he loves it. I love that he is equating talking about his feelings with being strong - a message little boys typically don't get from mass culture and one that will help not only as his parents divorce but going forward in his other relationships. He asks for a courage badge when he is having a hard time adjusting to the transition, when he wants to talk about his feelings, or when he just wants a little extra attention. The hardest part of divorce for me has been worrying about how the separation and resulting dynamic would impact my children. This book has been a great tool for my son to learn from and for me to use to guide him, as we both navigate the transition. I am truly grateful for it.
